Hammerli 208 sights wdith

Post by Ned »

I bought recently Hammerli 208 pistol in mint condition. The pistol came width original sights, width 3.2 mm.

I am used to much larger sights and at first I had feeling that such narrow sigts won't be good. At fire range, I got acustometed easily. Neverthless, I am still tempted to try either 3.6 or 4 mm sights.

I know that sights width is quite individual issue but your experience would be halpful. For exemple, I could combine 3.6mm front sight with 4.0 mm rear sight.

The front sight for both 208 and 208s is the same, but rear sight is not the same ?

I agree Ned - I also prefer a wider front sight blade and rear notch. I also have a 208 and wish they were larger. You are very lucky to have a brand new 208.

I very much like the Pardini sights for this reason - nice big sights for old eyes.

If you ever find a way to replace the 208 sights, I would appreciate any information you can send.

Ned,

I just spoke with Larry at www.larrysguns.com this morning. Larry is the Hammerli distributor for the U.S. Larry told me me that he has replacement front and rear sights for the 208 and 208s.

He has the following sizes:

Front - 3.6 4.0 and 4.4
Rear - 4.0 4.2 and 4.4

My Pardini SP .22 uses the 4.0 and this combination works well for me so that is probably what I will try for the Hammerli.
