Best Pellets?

Post by Guest »

I shoot a Walter LG300 Alutec and have been using H&N Match pellets. I recently purchased some Vogel pellets. The Vogel pellets are 4.49mm where as the H&N are 4.50 mm. The Vogels seem to slide into the chamber with less resistence. I wandered if anyone had done any tests with pellets to see which ones performed best with a Walther LG300?

Thanks!

I haven't tested pellets in a Walther yet.

But I've done a fair amount of pellet testing for members of our club.

So far every rifle has been an individual.

The best thing to do is buy a bunch of brands and sizes of pellets and see how they shoot in your gun.

If you are in a club get several members together for the testing, spread the cost out a bit, and give them a try. I have a tray of inheritied pellets with 20 or 30 tins of different brands and sizes in it. Since the tins have been open for a while now I use it to narrow down what a rifle seems to like, then have the shooter order a new tin of that brand and size. If it still shoots well then I tell the shooter to order a bunch.

I will say that I have found more rifles that liked R10 pellets than any other brand. But each rifle had a preference in size.

Another option is to send your rifle to Neal Johnsons, for something like $35 they'll lock it down in a machine rest and test a bunch of different pellets in it (not Vogle though). Then you can purchase the ones that worked best.
