Hammerli 160 special

Post by Ernie Rodriguez »

Does anyone have information on the Hammerli 160 special? I probably will be looking to buy one, either that one or the Hammerli FP10,with the latest trigger assy. Thanks ERod

What sort of info are you looking for? Larry Carter at www.larrysguns.com is your best source for detailed technical information. He told me it is, in his opinion, the best free pistol Hammerli ever made.

Hämmerli FP

Post by Reinhamre »

Hi,
I think you had better wait for the new FP 60.
Only one or two has been made so far, but it might be a nice Christmas Present.

I have heard that it is a mix of AP 40 and FP 160 Special.

http://www.haemmerli.ch/index.php?id=191&L=1

As for me, I have already placed my order.

And NO, I still like my FP 10 (it gave me 547 last competition) but, helas, the trigger could be better though.

Kent-Thanks for the comment. The remark you had on the trigger-is that because it is the original trigger or is it the newer trigger assy with the three bearings.(probably the latest)I still do like the FP10,and I haven't seen the FP itself, can you comment on the quality.Thank You for your kind help.ERod.

FP 10 or not

Post by Reinhamre »

The FP10 is made by SAM
http://www.samlugano.ch/

The production of FP 10 for Hämmerli has broken up and Hämmerli does now work on a new generation of free pistol.

It will use ideas and parts from the air pistol AP 40.
I am told that it does inherit more from heir traditional 160 special, than from the FP10. This may be the case due to the question who owns the design.

As I said, FP10 is now a SAM product. Nice gun, I have a feeling that no money has been spent on the trigger.

I need to tighten the springs more and more, are they too weak?
Morini air pistol has similar springs; I will try and see what can be done later. This is a job for winter days.
I have not yet disassembled the trigger part. I have just been shooting 1000 shots with this gun. I had one FP10 before. (The grip is from the previous one)
Do buy a FP10 but be prepared to look after the trigger, it is mechanic so it would be possible to tinker with. Good Luck!

The FP 60 will NOT become available until late in 2005!
No real production has started yet. Only a few prototypes have been made so far.
I have spoken to a person who has held a sample in his hand though.
Forget the one month perspective.

I'd guess that serial production has started or is going to start soon, as the 0-series (given to some top shooters for testing) has been recalled to the factory 8 or 10 weeks ago.

This may be premature, but is there any idea on what the price will be for the Hammerli FP60?
It's interesting that SAM will be continuing with the FP10 as well. Is this the same FP that Don Nygord had listed as a new arrival last summer? I thought it curious that the anticipated price was to be about $1200, a good but less than the price then for a Hammerli Fp10. Strange, if in fact they were basically thesame thing.

SAM free pistols

Post by Scott H. »

The free pistol Don hoped to sell was the SAM50. That is a different gun from the model that SAM & Hammerli share. I believe that the SAM site lists that gun as their FP60, while Hammerli shows it as the FP10.

I bought one of the SAM50's from Donna Nygord. It has a trigger that feels like the trigger on the K11/K15 air pistols, and is a joy to shoot. I took the "UK legal" weights off it, btw.

The SAM site has been down for some days now but I think there was two FP on their site
http://www.samlugano.ch/

Hämmerli does not have FP 10 on their site anymore!

Steljes does have though.

Note that Stelljes have Walther SSP for delivery mid 2005!

That is right.

SAM FP 50 is the same as my Hammerli FP 10

Even my Hammerli FP 10 is marked SAM on the top.

As it is said on the SAM site:

Our first free pistol,
created at first for a concurrent company,
has been inserted in our program in 2005.
Cal.22.Ir, well balanced,
precise, with interesting price.
