Are there any books on RF?

Post by tedbell »

Are there any worthwhile books on RF, or any kind of Olympic style pistol shooting? Or magazines? In the "sighting in" post, advice was given to read about stances, etc.- I've been reading all of the articles posted on Don Nygord's sight, but where can I get more info?

Thanks,
Ted

Tedbell: If you would contact me, I might be able to help with info on RF pistol and some of the other disciplines. My email is: bawilli@attglobal.net
Or, just send me your mailing address and I will send the info out. Either way is okay.

The usual suspects are as follows. They are all great books but I have ranked them in an order which reflects the amount of "inspiration" (from the most to the least) I have personally gained from each book. They are general ISSF shooting books, but all carry decent chapters on Rapid Fire. Some are now out of print, but these should still be available second-hand using the internet. Try http://www.amazon.com for new and http://www.bookfinder.com for used.

Hi

I have Frank and Paul Leatherdale's book:

Frank and Paul Leatherdale, Successful pistol shooting, Marlborough : Crowood, 1988.
Second edition: 1995.

It's a well written, and well illustrated book. It does a good job of explaining the different stances and grips used in shooting at an intermediate level at least. It also has a good chapter on all of the available Pistol Disciplines.

I also have Gil Hebard's book on Pistol shooting. It's a bound pile of articles by both Bullseye Pistol Shooters and Police Pistol shooters. It DEFINITELY goes into more detal on how to handle recoil, how to grip, etc.
