As I understand it, the range that was (is) scheduled to be used for the World Masters Games, is slated to be ploughed under. The City of Edmonton is refusing to renew the lease, and the WMG has not obtained permission to use the facilities. NASA, who holds the lease, is refusing to let the WMG to be held there unless some sort of agreement is reached between NASA and the City.
I have not gained this knowledge firsthand, but through copied e-mails.
I urge anybody who was considering shooting at the Games, and those concerned with the future of the Strathcona shooting facility to contact both the City of Edmonton and the World Masters Games Association.

Same thing happened for WMG in Portland8
Same thing happened to shooting when the Nike WMG were held in Portland, Oregon, a couple years ago. WMG organizers and range management couldn't agree on local facilities use and the whole thing crashed with no shooting events at all.
