FP grips for the short-fingered?

I'm trying to get back into FP, and am running into a serious problem - finding grips that fit. My hands are weird - thick, broad palms, short fingers.

I've got Morini medium-sized grips on my FPs, and they are too tight in the back of the hand, and way too big around. I'm barely getting my fingertips around the frontstrap of the grip, and the strain on the trigger finger is definitely there.

Would I be better off with a bigger grip? A smaller? A different maker? TIA.

I think it´s time to whip out your dremel... ;-)

Seriously, any factory grip for a freepistol is not going to fit perfectly,
I imagine you´re in a pretty good position as you probably only have to remove some wood for a good fit.

With a smaller grip there may not be enough wood for letting the back of your hand in,
and with a larger grip the circumference is larger and trigger reach is typically worse (longer that is...)

But these are just my thoughts on the subject...

I suffered from a similar problem when I picked up my Morini from the supplier. I had ordered a meduim Morini grip but it was far to mutch of a reach for my short fingers.

I was lucky that the supplier had a batch of grips that I could try and I ended up with the small Morini grip. The reach for the trigger finger was fine but it pinched the top and back of the hand. This resulted in careful use of the Dremel.

All is fine now and the grips are about 90%-95% comfortable as I just adjusted the palm shelf as it is getting rather cold on the ranges (I hate winter) and the grips feel a little strange.

You might want to contact Seaton Thomas, "The Gripman". Lives in AZ. USA, and has helped a lot of folks attain oneness with their grips. He did some for me and It is absolutely amazing what he can do. Arrange a personal fitting if possible. He can and does work long distance with great results, but time spent with the grip man is a good thing. I think his e-mail is Seaton2@frontiernet.net.

Mike, if you're in the US I suggest giving Arnie Vitarbo a try. He has made 3 grips for me, and I think he has the best idea of the proper relationship between the base of the thumb and the trigger. He can easily address your short reach issue as long as you're not in a rush. This may not be current - the last email address I have for him is afv56@outdrs.net

Why don't you try to get in touch with Rink? They have the widest grip parameters range of choice I've seen. Maybe they will solve your problem.
