NSSF Ad in USA Today Congratulates Olympic Medal Shooters

Post by NSSF »

NEWTOWN, Conn. - On behalf of America’s 40 million hunters and target shooters, the National Shooting Sports Foundation is congratulating the USA Shooting Team on its success at the Athens Olympics in a full-page ad to appear Friday in USA Today. The ad, to run in major metropolitan editions, recognizes gold medalist Kim Rhode, gold medalist Matt Emmons and silver medalist Mike Anti.

“These athletes have lived their dream and the incredible amount of time and practice they have put in has resulted in accomplishments that have made America’s recreational shooters proud. The firearms industry, a supporter of the USA Shooting Team, is equally proud of their success,” said Doug Painter, president of NSSF.

Rhode, a gold medalist in women’s double trap, earned a medal in her third Olympics, having also won gold in 1996 in Atlanta and a bronze in 2000 in Sydney. Emmons, a gold medalist in prone rifle, qualified in three different rifle events at Athens, his first Olympic games. Major Anti, of the U.S. Army’s American Marksmanship Unit, came home with a silver medal in three-position rifle, which he dedicated over 25 years of practice to achieve.

The ad, which can be viewed by clicking here,

reads, “Does America have good reason to be proud? Shoot, yes!” It invites prospective shooters to visit www.nssf.org/shootyes to learn how to get started in the shooting sports whether they are looking for a weekend pastime or aspiring to become part of the USA Shooting Team. Youth can learn how they can participate in the shooting sports by earning a Junior USA Shooting Team patch.

The National Shooting Sports Foundation, founded in 1961, is the trade association for the firearms and recreational shooting sports industry and promotes the safe ownership and responsible use of products its members make and sell. For more information about NSSF, visit the Web site www.nssf.org.

That's awesome. The NSSF rocks, and their support of USAS has been amazing.

This is really terrific. Hopefully there will be more of this kind of support from other organizations that are involved in shooting. The Olympics have a special place in the hearts of all Americans and people worldwide. This is one of the best ways to legitimize the shooting sports in the US. This kind of effort will help build the base that we need to develop future Olympians. Thank you, NSSF.
