Air pistol cleaning
I have a question about cleaning air pistols, rifles, etc. Is it advisable to use a bore snake for periodic cleaning, or is there a fear that the bronze brush embedded in the first portion of the bore snake might damage the barrel? This would seem odd to me as the barrel should be harder than the bronze, even if it is only shooting pellets and not jacketed .50 cal bullets, for example.

I hope someone out there can fill us in on what we SHOULD be doing...
I shoot 2 felt cleaning pellets into the trash can after every tin of real pellets.

My concern was the instruction book for my LP@ said to use cleaning cords only (without a definition of what those were), whereas my old IZH came with a cleaning rod. I would guess they would be concerned with damaging the crown by poking a rod down through the compensator. As far as I've been able to determine, felt pellets are supposed to be pushed through the gun, not shot. I did try shooting some through another gun and then running a patch through, which showed that the felt pellets did not pick up all the fouling, which I assume to be mostly graphite lubricating the peelets.
