Here I am gaining from the experts on target talk again. This time comparing 2 different styles the Hammerlii 120 and the Walther GSP , Grip mag or front mag. Both are older disigns and both are proven. But are there quirks? problems? Thanks for your help.

Hi Dam8,
I think you might have crossed some wires along the way. The Hammerli 120 is not a standard pistol but an older style single-shot free pistol. Compared to the Walther GSP, they are like chalk and cheese.
Are you thinking of the Hammerli 208 / 208s ? (and the variations on that theme. See http://www.pilkguns.com/tenp/hami.htm

Hammerli 120
The Hammerli 120 looks like a sport pistol, but, as someone else noted, is a single shot pistol.
The older Walther GSP's can be a little nose-heavy, unless it has the "ladies" barrel on it. Of course, that is now illegal, by 1mm, in Canada!
The Walther is also more forgiving than a Hammerli 208. With the Hammerli, when you're on, you're on & shooting great, but if you're sloppy, it shows. With the Walther, you can "get away" with a bit.
The other side of that is that the Hammerli teaches you & makes you be good.
Shot a Walther GSP for 8 yrs & loved it, but then switched to the Hammerli 208. Boy what a difference. Loved it too. When I was good, I was very, very good! When I was sloppy, they were 8's.
At least that's my experience.
