Home Live Training Systems

Post by Mk4Zero »

So I’ve ordered a SCATT and realize that if I want to test my progress I’ll need to shoot more often.

With time being the limit I’m looking at:

MegaLink
https://megalink.no/info/en/issf/3d-score/

and

SQ10
https://sportquantum.com/en/sq10/

I’ve seen posts comparing megalink and SIUS but not these two. One thing I’m digging is the lack of consumables for SQ10.

What’re your guys experiences with these, and which would you prefer if time is the only limiting factor?

If time is the limiting factor, dry fire with the SCATT. It's very quick, and you don't have to waste time fiddling with pellets, filling cylinders, filling scuba tanks, etc.

That’s the plan! But it’s mentally refreshing to see progress or lack of, hence looking for a live fire platform.

AP Ranges are kinda far for me in Los Angeles(I live near Beverly Hills)

I’d also like to participate in the various postal leagues

Depending on who you ask, the SQ10 consumables vary from "none" to the polycarbonate impact sheet, which is supposed to be good to 10,000 hits. That's 20 tins of pellets, so it will last a LONG time. It looks like a very nice system, but the last time I looked into it, it was pretty new. They seem to be doing well, and have a more established track record. I'm not sure who sells them in the USA, so support may be an issue.

The SIUS hybrid HS10 targets require masks, but you only need to replace it if you have shots outside the 7 ring. They are about $20/100 from Kruger. I think they are significantly more expensive if you get them from SIUS. Megalink requires masks (aiming cards) as well. They may be more expensive, because they are appear to be larger, and may only be available from Megalink, for ~ $1 each.

I used one of these in the basement:

Worked great. If you were in the Phoenix area, you could take a look. (no longer have a basement, so not being used)
