How to stay in shape during holiday?

Post by breadfan »

Hi,

Let's say you want to stay in the best shape.

What would be the best way to keep the strength when going on a holiday for a week tilll a month?
This while bringing along the gun is not an option (due to customs/regulations etc.)?

What do you think?
Is strength just a small aspect of pistol shooting and is rest probably better than trying to keep strong?
You should bring another object that as far as possible looks like your pistol to try to train by dry fire?
Just take a bottle of water and train your strenght with that (keeping it in front of you with your shooting arm)?
Perhaps a combination of the above?
Or something completely different?

I'd love to hear.
Best regards!

Bring a 3 pound / 1.5 kg dumbbell and do holding exercises. Stand in firing position, raise the dumbbell slowly, hold in firing position as steady as you can for 30 seconds at a time. Hold out in firing position and make slow controlled figure-8's for 30 seconds. Do as many reps as you can, or as many as you have time for. I switch right to left hand every 30 seconds.

Running, swimming, hiking, biking, calisthenics to maintain cardio and strength.

Visualization, meditation and other mental exercises.

Here's a drill I posted some time back. I think it's perfect for you.

Aha, dumbbell, great idea. And with slow (vertical I think you meant) figure-8's perhaps it could also improve the dexterity a bit needed for correction?

Haha, great, potato's!

Seems like a great structural training to create a buffer for preventing fatigue caused by shooting.

I think I am going to put both trainings in my day to day and holiday routines. Thanks a lot!
