Pardini SP - recoil weights stuck

Post by orionshooter »

I haven’t used this little gem in about 5 years and ran into a problem while cleaning it tonight.

Only one of the four recoil weights came sliding out when I tipped it over. The rest will not come out with the usual gentle coaxing.

I’m letting it soak in some Kroil overnight and hoping for the best in the morning. Can anyone come up with some plan B’s just in case?

Thanks all

following this topic to see if orion shooter can get this fixed.
If the kroil does not work, I would suggest the following:
Alcohol
Gentle heat like 160 degrees in a oven
Plastic bag it and place in freezer
if the weights are still stuck, try shooting it, Lots of people have their red dot knocked loose from shooting their pardini, should work with the recoil weights.

Smack it on the front with a mallet - on the barrel not the shroud.

The CTE of Al is higher than steel (and tungsten), gentle warming (well below the softening temp of the loctite which holds the barrel in - 200C to be safe? - not sure about the epoxy paint) and a knock might help, there is no reason to freeze it.

Re: Pardini SP - recoil weights stuck — SOLVED

Thanks gents. A few minutes after posting, I thought about gently using a heat gun combined with some more tapping/coaxing. Weight #2 came out almost immediately while #3&4 remained more stubborn. After three cycles of heating and cooling down, they finally broke free.

Thanks for your help - great brain trust out there.

.22cal bronze brushing. And then remove all trace of oil and grease with a cotton swab, and the same for the weights with a wipe. They should be dry and loose.
