front adjustable aperture help.

Post by Kimie »

There the rear part of the front sight I had to use the rear part of the fwb p-70 to screw the adjustable aperture and than screw it into the sight to get it to work.Shouldn't the W. Gehmann sight be universal and fit the p-70 sight.

There are two sizes of foresight in common use - M18 and M22. The FWB foresight is probably 22mm in diameter, and it sounds like you have bought an 18mm Gehmann iris - in which case it will screw into the inside of the FWB retaining clamp, and is going to give you a sight picture with a very thick foresight tunnel.
There are two alternatives to that - either get a replacement M18 tunnel, such as the Centra, or swap the M18 iris for a M22 version.

Kimie:
If your P-70 is relatively new, it probably came with the newer, larger front sight which requires the M22 threads.
Mac (see posting below) may be right. You may have been sent an adjustable aperture with the older, smaller M18 threads. If so, you need to exchange it for a unit with the M22 threads like Mac suggests.
