FWB 300 Sight Help

Post by brent375hh »

I inherited a 300 without a rear sight. I purchased a used sight marked Feinwerkbau that supposedly taken from a 300.

With the sight all the way up and left, I am still an inch low and right at 10meters.

What am I missing? Thanks.

Assuming the rearsight is not damaged, either it's not from a 300 (or that particular version), or the foresight is too tall (possibly not vertical).

If the rearsight fits on a dovetail, not the funny scalloped rail, a raiser block is a quick and easy way to free up elevation adjustment.

I am not sure what happened, but I cleaned the barrel, and removed and reattached the rear sight and front sight aperture. It now has usable sight movement laterally, and the elevation is now usable too, but about 2mm from its upper limit.

Its a mystery to me as to why it was so far off to start with. Neither of my actions should have changed zero by an inch.

My 300 has a dovetail, but also locking cross cuts that the sight locks into to prevent fore aft movement.

Up and right are counter clockwise just in case you aren't used to he way the sights are marked.

Champions Choice has a 4mm riser. I think that is exactly what I need, unless FWB actually made such an item.
