Buying the IZH46M, Now looking at Co2 replicas!

Post by Mark »

Thanks to lots of folks here I have decided to pick up a
IZH 46M.
During the research I found some "what seem to be quality"
Co2 replica's. I shoot Sigs & Smiths and found that RWS sells an 8 shot 225 replica. (One of my favorite Sigs) And S&W has a (what looks to be nice)wheelgun out there.
A few questions, if you dont mind..... :o)
1) Are any of these replicas worth owning?
2) Does RWS build the RWS 225 or Umarex ?
3) The RWS has a 4" or 6" barrel option. Any preference?
(although it might look strange)

4) Walther, Colt, RWS, S&W, & others, any real standouts?
5) Do the $150.00 -$200 replicas shoot better than the $70.00
Gamos? or do they all have cheap plastic internal parts that will
wear out in time?
6) Almost forgot the S&W, does it fall into the above category?
Is it built by S&W?
Thanks for all the help!
You folks are keeping me from making several newbie mistakes!

In regards to the RWS 225 I have one with the 4" barrel
and it is fun to shoot but seems wildly inaccurate
though some of that is me. Don't expect target pistol
quality. HTH

The S&W, Sig, and Walthers are all made by Umarex, which also owns Walther. I own a very nice Walther CP88, which is about as accurate as any of these replicas is likely to get. At 10 metres one handed I've shot a 45/50 on the ISSF target, S/A. The high-end replicas mentioned above have no plastic parts other than grips, and are very precisely manufactured. They will give years of shooting fun with only basic maintenance. I also owned a Makarov (Baikal) MP654K, but got frustrated at its innacuracy and tendency to jam. Hence the Walther - quantum amount better IMO. Hope this helps!
