But my own experience while shooting at dusk, right before sun set on west, my grouping invariably moved to the RIGHT, AWAY from the sun.
What gives?

This is why somebody invented the "Front sight hood". Lever Action Rifles come into mind.

and why I never understood 2.10.5.(DSB/ISSF) What is so wrong with protecting something?
