Interviews with pistol shooters by a pistol shooter

Post by Ramon OP »

Hi all. I hope everything is going well for you in this difficult times.

I've started interviewing top pistol shooters and coaches to have a perspective that would be helpful for other pistol shooters. These are the first ones (in order of appearance):
You can find these and future interviews here: https://www.olympicpistol.com/category/interviews/

The next ones to be published should be:
  • Rizvi Shahzar
  • Alejandra Zabala
  • Céline Goberville
  • Coach Jelena Arunovic
A lot more shooters and coaches have been invited, so I expect to be publishing a lot of interviews :)

I hope you find them interesting and that you learn something useful out of them.

This is a great initiative Ramon.
So far we can see that "one size fits all" isn't quite the case. Celine's response is very insightful.
I would like to see Olena Kostevych (she's just great!!), and Antoaneta Boneva (for her unorthodox style).

Keep the good work up!!
Max.

Ramon. Thanks for posting these interviews. You happened to interview one of my shooting hero’s João Costa. The guy is truly one of the great shooters of our time. No gimmicks, no BS, just shoot. You can’t beat that for honest advice from a real champion. Thanks again.. Sam

Thanks a lot Max. Can you send me their emails in a message? 🙂

I would love to have both. Agree in Antoeneta's particular style. Olena is out of this world and has changed her style a lot throughout her career. Very interesting shooters.

I'm having issues with some shooters not speaking good enough English, Spanish or French to feel comfortable to do it. A Russian speaker help would be greatly appreciated! :)

Love it! I started trying to do this waaaaay back when TargetTalk was part of my Air Pistol Home Page. Interviewed Don Nygord and got that one published to the site. Tried to interview Ragnar but that never got off the launch pad ... and had an interview with Don Hamilton that I subsequently lost in the shuffle.

Glad to see you are doing such good work Ramon, it’s widely appreciated. Keep at it!

Good shooting,
Patrick

I'm not sure it is her that manages the page, but I've left a post (couldn't send a message) :)

More interviews published:

Shooters
* Artem Chernousov https://www.olympicpistol.com/artem-che ... ink-a-lot/
* Antoaneta Kostadinova Boneva (got one @madmax, no response from Olena :( ) https://www.olympicpistol.com/antoaneta/
* Sandrine Goberville (in French, translation coming soon) https://www.olympicpistol.com/sandrine-goberville-fr/
* Florian Fouquet (in French, translation coming soon) https://www.olympicpistol.com/florian-fouquet-fr/
* Lynda Kiejko https://www.olympicpistol.com/lynda-kiejko/
* Dina Aspandiyarova (both perspectives: shooter and coach) https://www.olympicpistol.com/dina-aspandiyarova/
* Alejandra Zavala https://www.olympicpistol.com/alejandra-zavala/

Coaches
* Alan Goldberg (mental coaching) https://www.olympicpistol.com/drg/
* Christina Macdonald (pilates for pistol shooters) https://www.olympicpistol.com/christina-macdonald/

Other:
* The creator of the SCATT Database https://www.olympicpistol.com/scattdb/

Getting a response or even contacting many shooters is proving difficult. The good news is that there's a Russian translator (Anton Minko), thanks to whom we got the answers from Artem Chernousov :)

If any of you is friends with a pistol shooter or coach that you think should be interviewed, please make an introduction via email (ramon at olympic pistol dot com) and I'll take it from there :)
