2020 Air Rifle/Smallbore Summer Camp

Post by rgibson »

We are announcing an Air Rifle/Smallbore Summer Camp for 13-18 year olds interested in learning 3P. The venue is Belton Gun Club near Belton, S.C. in the northwest corner of the State. We have a Level 3 Coach, a Level 1 Coach, and several NRA Rifle Instructors (to help monitor the line) so far. If there is interest I want to start 3P matches at the club. Planning on Smallbore Prone matches in the near future. Just trying to get the word out. I have included verbage from the flyer we are going to be sending out.
The Belton Gun Club and the Palmetto State Marksmen Association present the
2020 Summer Camp for 3 Position Smallbore/Air Rifle
June 15-19, 2020 at Belton Gun Club
Did you enjoy rifle range activities at Summer Camp? Do you want more than just recreational shooting with family and friends? Would you like to advance your Marksmanship Skills to compete in 3 Position Air Rifle or Smallbore Rifle at local ranges, with high school or college teams, or even at the National Matches? Are you 13 to 18 years of age? Anyone can be a shooter; we want to make you a competitor!
PARENTS: Would you like your child to participate in a sport that develops concentration, discipline, self- control, and the rewards of hard work? This sport has an injury rate so low the National Safety Council doesn’t keep statistics? Hard work at this sport might lead to a college scholarship or trying out to shoot on a national, international or Olympic team.
This camp will be five days of intense marksmanship training; from the basic skills to advanced shooting concepts. We will provide rifles, equipment and personalized training. Camp tuition will be used to cover the cost of ammunition, targets, lunch, as well as books and training material that will be provided for the athlete to take home. Firearm Safety is paramount and will be taught and emphasized throughout the course.
Day One will begin with the NRA First Steps Rifle Orientation class and a Certificate of Completion will be awarded. This First Steps training is to ensure that everyone will be familiar with the rifles we will use and critical firearm safety rules. The cost of this class and related materials are also covered by the Camp tuition. The course will continue with training on shooting fundamentals, building positions, the shot process and techniques. The mental aspects of being a successful competitor will be covered; including developing training plans, goals and goal setting, and mentally preparing for competition. Depending on the age and capabilities; participants will shoot an Air Rifle, Smallbore Rifle (.22 Rimfire), or both of these, during the camp. Tuition for the Camp is $150.00. Your slot in the camp is not guaranteed until payment in full is received with registration by May 18, 2020. Staff of the Camp consists of NRA Air Rifle/Smallbore Rifle Coaches and NRA Rifle Instructors. Contact Coach Bob Gibson at 864-2Zero1-1664 or e-mail "bobgibson308 at gmail.com" for more information.
