They have done a lot of discussing spotters. I don't think a 80mm obj. scope is ever needed for 50m though. I have always used a 60mm obj scope for out to 100yd with good results. I just picked up a used Kowa 611 with the 25x eyepiece and it seems great for these distances and it is cheaper, lighter, and more compact- all good features.
