Depends on the distance from your eye to your front apeture and also just what you are comfortable with.
I'm gonna generalize and say that anything below 4 is too small.

That is VERY shooter-specific. Depends not only on your hold, but on the on other factors as well. The only way to find out your optimal front aperture size is to monitor your performance while reducing the apperture from the widest to the narrowest (the process may take some time).
Keep in mind, that a bit narrower than optimal aperture is much worse than a bit wider than optimal.

Here's how you find out what size to use: try different ones and shoot ten-shot groups. Look for two things - what allows you to take the shot comfortably and call your shot well, and look at your group size. That will pretty much tell you what to use. Try apetures between 3.8 and about 4.2.
