Dry Fire Steyr LP2

I have just bought a two year old Steyr LP2 compact. I cannot get the dry fire to work. I pull back the cocking lever as detailed in the Instructions and I hear it engage. When I close the cocking lever it sound like the trigger mechanism “fires “ It is impossible to make the dry fire work. I wonder if it’s to do with the trigger set up by the previous owner. Any ideas much appreciated.

Cock the pistol as normal but do not close the cocking lever all the way, the letter "T" should be visible on the left hand side.
