Universal Air Pistol Sighting Guide
Hi all,
Finding the elevation and windage clicking instructions for a lot of air pistols is not easy. The TenP Philes (a great resource!) do not show up in Google search results when we need them and they are missing some of the more modern air guns. Even finding the manuals can be hard (broken or inexistent links in manufacturers websites).
So I've compiled the sighting instructions of modern air pistols in one page with the hope that it will be a quick and easy reference: https://www.olympicpistol.com/universal ... heatsheet/
Looking forward to your improvements and corrections!

Re: Universal Air Pistol Sighting Guide
Been there, done that...
The pictures are a nice touch.
Here's an updated version of my list that you posted at the end. I found that Hammerli reversed the windage adjustments when they went from the 480K to the AP40.:

Thanks for sharing!
Anyone have a similar list for 25 meter guns?

Re: Universal Air Pistol Sighting Guide
I'm willing to make one but I need to know the brands and models to include (precision and rapid fire)
It should be easy taking the AP list as a guide.
Same for 50m.

Re: Universal Air Pistol Sighting Guide
Thanks, I will update it.
The pictures where a pain to find. Some models have no visual reference in their manuals and most of the product pictures do not include the sighting graphs view.

Re: Universal Air Pistol Sighting Guide
Thanks for this. I'm sure many here have spent HOURS trying to figure out how to adjust their sights.
Sorry, no sarcasm emoji, but then it may not need it.

Re: Universal Air Pistol Sighting Guide
You clearly don't work with beginning students. I've lost count of the number of times they've managed to turn things in the wrong direction. A lot of schools & junior programs don't have the luxury of getting pistols with things like manuals. Also, in the process of compiling this, a couple of the English translations in the manuals have thing backwards.
Re: Universal Air Pistol Sighting Guide
Or simply, they translate literally. I recently discovered the FWB AW93 manual says "Shooting right: turn the windage screw in the direction of R". Which, while literally true, tripped me up even after thinking about it. I mean, it physically moves nothing toward the right! Ok, got it, yup.
Stating it in a consistent way for all pistols is useful!
Re: Universal Air Pistol Sighting Guide
There are two fundamentally different ways of looking at sight adjustments:
1) Which way do I move my sights if the shots are off in certain direction?
2) Which way do I move my sights to move my shots in a certain direction?
Depending on which one you prefer, the answer requires moving the sight in the opposite direction. Hammerli, Walther & Steyr tend to use approach #1, Baikal & the Italians tend to use #2.
A pictogram of the shot next to the target (like Hammerli uses), or the word "Bei" (German for "IF") is a clue that they are using approach # 1

Re: Universal Air Pistol Sighting Guide
You guys make a lot of work for yourselves.
I simply write on the grip the formula: C=R+D (Clockwise moves impact Right and Down or whatever the case may be.) Usually four clicks per scoring ring for Air Pistol.

Re: Universal Air Pistol Sighting Guide
I really don't know why some people on this site are so negative about someone offering guidance.
If it's not useful TO YOU, then why not STFU and keep your comments to yourself?

Because I find it hard to bite my tongue when dealing with assholes like you.

Re: Universal Air Pistol Sighting Guide
That would make a very good reference guide for most ISSF activities :)
The most commonly used models in my area would be:
Pardini SP New / RF (.22)
Pardini HP New (.32)
Benelli MP90/95 (.22/.32)
Morini CM22
Walther SSP / SSP-E
Walther GSP / Expert (.22/.32)
Hämmerli SP20 RRS (.22/.32)
Ruger Mark 3 (.22 - used a lot as club guns)
Re: Universal Air Pistol Sighting Guide

Re: Universal Air Pistol Sighting Guide
Here's a place to start:
Because I set this up for the collegiate team I help coach, the standard pistol settings are at 50 feet, which is the usual distance for most US college ranges.

Re: Universal Air Pistol Sighting Guide
Excellent guide. Do you mind if I publish it in the blog as is, giving you credit and linking to your profile here?

Re: Universal Air Pistol Sighting Guide
No problem. I've learned an enormous amount on the forum over the years, and I'm happy to give back in kind.
