Anschutz 2002 SSP Bolt Body Adjutment

Post by Brazos »

I am helping a friend fix an Anschutz 2002 SSP. Long story short the Bolt Body (part 39) broke. He was very fortunate Anschutz in Germany had one (they were great to deal with BTW). So we installed the new bolt body and when you push down on the thumb lever to close the bolt it is very hard to close that last little bit. It would appear the bolt needs to be adjusted back a little. I have read somewhere Anschutz put some adjustability to the bolt to allow for wear over time. Anyone know how to do this?

Hello! I have 2002 Compressed Air - here Fine adjusting can be made with excentric bolt ( the same bolt in 2002 super air is 69a) - it has hexagonal head with index dot. You can shoose right position, in which lever close with small effort, by rotating and placing this eccentric bolt in different positions (need to remove E-clip for pull out this bolt).
If it won't work, coarse adjustment can be made by moving barrel to the front or rear in its housing.

Thanks. After posting I kind of figured out how to adjust. Still really tight to snap the bolt closed. I had not thought about moving the barrel (Dugh!). Let me look into that. Thanks.

Ok. Next question, since this is a friends rifle and not in front of me, how to I move the barrel? I assumed there would be some set screws somewhere but looking at parts diagrams I don't see what I think I am looking for.

There are 4 screws that fixing barrel : two on the left side and two on the right side of air pump housing. On this photo you can see two holes for this screws : in front and rear part of air compressor: http://allencorneau.com/pictures/Anschu ... 0-%204.jpg
Its number are 7 and 33 at expl. diagram.

That sure does look familiar.

As the others have said, set the eccentric bolt to it's "lowest" setting first then mess around with the barrel adjustment second. You should find the sweet spot with not too much hassle.

Well the barrel adjustment worked. The eccentric screw did not come close to having enough adjustment. It almost took both hands the close the bolt. Now we have the barrel adjusted we can fine tune with the eccentric bolt. The bolt closes easy and chrono in the 570's. Occasionally the bolt pops open after the shot but the velocity stays consistant so not sure it matters. We did break part number 53 in the process so that may have something to do with it. Or maybe the bolt is set too light but the velocity is good. Either way thanks so much guys. We have resurrected a nice rifle from the dead and we have a new, great guy, shooting 10M. I also want to thank Anschutz Germany for being so helpful and having critical parts we needed. Tonight we had our weekly 10M shoot and instead of working on a 2002 SSP and scratching our heads as to the next step we got to shoot.
