Building 50 & 100 prone rifle

Post by Beretta7 »

Any recommendation on barrel diameter and length for a prone rifle using 54 Anschutz action. Also tuner lengths and brands.

I went with 27 inch long by 0.9 inch barrel when I rebarreled my Anschutz, this is about 4mm shorter than the original 1913 barrel. I then added the short Staric tuner.

I went with a 24” Benchmark barrel. I second the Starik tuner.

I agreee with RByars.
I would speak with Benchmark on length, Prone matches are long and very heavy rifles can really wear on you.
I have a 20" Benchmark that is a tack driver.
All you need then is the Starik Tuner Bloop Tube. You need about a 32" sight radius.

1" 21" Shilen ratchet, Uptagrafft tuner. Great prone rifle, but could have probably did .95". Long barrels are said to be better for Onehundred yards, but an accurate barrel is an accurate barrel no matter the length to me.

9/10 inch diameter barrel; BeeSting tuner -- (see www.beesafeusa.com); barrel length about 22 inches.
re tuner length: entire length of barrel plus tuner in neighborhood of 36 to 38 inches.
Hammer to shape, file to fit, paint to match...
