Looking for a club to shoot at

Post by Roustabout »

Does any know of any clubs that shoot Olympic style rifle events on a regular basis near Elmira or binghampton NY? Air rifle or 22? I'm new to the area. Ive been shooting my entire life, but just started shooting competitively. The recent success I've had with high-power and indoor 50' Sporter rifle matches has me wanting more.

The NRA website should list clubs in your area and perhaps scheduled competitions.
Here’s a link to the New York State Rifle and pistol association

Thanks for providing the link to the NYSRPA. I sent an email over to them to see if they can help. I have checked the nra website, but from my experience it seems like there are a lot of local matches that never make it on the website or listed in their monthly magazine publications of upcoming matches.

I know the Binghampton NY Club will be shooting in the National Rifle League this season . www.National.RifleLeague.com They certainly have a junior program I would contact them. I do have the e-mail and name of the junior shooting coach if you need it.

Thank you for the info about Binghampton. I'm not a junior, but maybe they will let me come out and shoot with them. I will get in touch with someone there. Thanks for the advice.

I also received a reply from the New York state rifle and pistol association. The Iroquois rod and gun club near Albany has matches on Saturday throughout the winter. The two to three hour drive each way is bit much for going every weekend. Hopefully the Binghampton club works out.

Hopefully that works out for you, my club in Plattsburgh holds matches once a month from Dec- March. We had 32 shooters compete in our annual December prone match.
