Introduction

Hi - I love to shoot... but didn't get to do it much when I was young although I always wanted to. Once as a kid I asked my father to take me to a YMCA in a small town we lived in with about 3500 residents ... Knob Knoster MO. I had heard they had a youth shooting club. They asked me to take a couple of shots with their air gun ... two bullseyes! They wanted me to come back, although I got to, and figured out later it was because my father was an alcoholic and didn't take us out much, and my mother didn't drive.

Now I'm a grandfather, and a recovering alcoholic (31 years) and have grandsons that are old enough to shoot. I have a Daisy 499 that I'll be giving them some 'at home' range time with, and a Savage Rascal .22 single shot for at the range.

I'm glad that I stumbled on this site - perhaps I will find some tips on teaching them to shoot. Although I do fairly well myself, I'm not much of a teacher.
