Training device with verbal commands for the Olympic sports
Who makes / sells the devices that give verbal commands for the Olympic sports? I have seen one that is a little bigger than a pack of cigarettes. It has an output jack to connect to an amplified speaker system to broadcast to the firing line. It also has a dial to select each of the shooting sports that it is programmed to represent. I have heard other shooters describe devices have outputs to command the red and green lights on and off for rapid fire events.
The USA Shooting, Coach Academy on-line program even referenced this device in one of their chapters but didn't provide any names, brands or links to follow up with.
I have the 25m pistol timer app on my phone. That works fine for me shooting solo.
I don't like loaning out my cell phone on the range and leaving it unlocked. The range floor is gravel and it can be easily dropped and broken.
I am looking to add more realism to our practices. Right now I am using the par timer feature on a shot timer and that leaves a lot to be desired.

Re: Training device with verbal commands for the Olympic spo
That would be nice... we have downloaded some of the live World Cup/World Championships finals and put those on the overhead TVs and speakers for practice. Nice to shoot against some of the best in the world... :-)

Do the red and green lights work in sync with the verbal commands to indicate when the athlete can shoot? Or do they indicate battery level or switch settings or some other feature?
This looks to be a reasonable investment, and a good next step in our training

We use the "Range Officer" target timers, the green light shows power on, the others are buttons - red to start, black to reset, plus a switch on either side one for power the other is a vol control, incidentally we use ours hooked up to a bluetooth system so we aren't tripping over cables.
Very useful to practfice dryfire at home or otherwise.
Only had one issue when the 9v battery was cold, took a min to pop in a new/warmer one.
The only thing missing is the 'load" command, pressing the start button gets an "attention" command so you will have to time for 1 min after you say "load".
Hope this helps. John

Re: Training device with verbal commands for the Olympic spo
Is this the correct listing for the Olympic events?rtucker6508 wrote:I don't see any ISSF (Olympic Sports) programmed in any of these... am I missing something?
ISU Standard Pistol 2.5 min
ISU Standard Pistol 20 sec
ISU Standard Pistol 10 sec
ISU Center Fire 5 min
ISU Center Rapid Fire
ISU Rapid Fire 8 sec
ISU Rapid Fire 6 sec
ISU Rapid Fire 4 sec
Copied from this page here:

I am looking to add the Men's International Rapid Fire. I see the 8, 6 and 4 second events listed above.

I use the Shootwatch app. Works perfect for me.

Looks like it's not android, a Target timer is way cheaper than buying another phone.

Have a look at 25 M pistol timer ap on the play store. It may have just what you need.
Re: Training device with verbal commands for the Olympic spo
I do have that. It works good but is really only intended for one person.400driver wrote:Have a look at 25 M pistol timer ap on the play store. It may have just what you need.
I can't find anything that will run the red / green lights.
I would like to find something that I can use to run the entire firing line.
It look like the Target Timer is the only option.

Re: Training device with verbal commands for the Olympic spo
i don't think the range officer model will run lights. might need the full version. http://www.targettimers.com/target_controller.html a phone call or email would be the sure answer.
