Adding a touch of trigger weight.

Post by spektr »

I have been having trouble of late feeling the point where 1st stage take up meets the second stage release point on my FWB P44. Darned frustrating to have the shot go off before you were ready. Ran out of adjustment options with screws 3 and 10 adjacent the trigger, so....... I bit the bullet and added just under an 1/8 turn of weight using screw #11. Much better. Feinwerkbaus manuals are outstanding and I wish I hadn't fought this for so long..... Don't be afraid to sneak up on the trigger settings and get things the way you want them..... Read the manuals a few times and it makes sense. Also, what mad scientist mind put this many parts into a trigger, incredible piece of work.....

You can't blame the Germans, they have the knack for overengineering, you gotta love it or hate it...

The designer gives you options , to tailor the trigger to your particular requirements. High Quality Match Pistols are not 'one size fits all' and should not be , considering how much we pay for them .

Trigger weight should occasionally be tested by a 500 gm weight designed for the purpose . Like the one they use before matches .
That way you know that you are 'legal' and if you prefer you can add but not subtract to the 500 gm standard. I usually have my trigger weight slightly above the legal , for fear of premature shots.

I also keep my trigger weights above the legal minimum. Not for fear of premature shots, but to avoid the hassle of having to adjust it if it fails the pre competition equipment check. Or even worse, if I win the "lottery" and have my trigger weight checked after completing a competition. I was disqualified once, after completing the precision stage of a Centrefire Pistol competition. Never again!
