Scope Stands: Bi-pod vs. Tri-pod?

Does one have an advantage over the other? For the same price which would be better, on uneven ground etc?

When you say tripod, do you mean camera tripod? For position rifle, the legs will eventually get in the way (since they open up so far) and you can't lower them enough for prone.
The 3-legged shooting stand seems to be as popular as the "Freeland "Bipod", but the third or fourth leg also can have a habit of getting in the way, especially if you end up on a narrow firing point, or in a "shooting stall".
If you're getting the "bipod", be sure to add some weight to the bottom. A weight lifting one works well and cheap!

For level ground the two-leg variety are lighter, smaller, less obtrusive, and just as stable as long as you don't knock it over.
For unlevel ground, only a tripod with adjustable legs will work, but they're bigger, heavier, and not that much more stable if you're not outdoors on unevend dirt.
