Question For Hammerli AP20 Owners

I'm a new owner of a new Hammerli AP20 Pro. The question I have is, does the nipple of your pressure reducing block have what appears to be roll pins in the air inlet hole? This is the nipple the cylinder screws on to. I ask because I find it odd that Hammerli / Walther has a roll pin installed vs a proper sized hole to allow in air from cylinder and depress cylinder valve. I'd post a photo but I'm not near pistol at this time.

If question is unclear I'll post photo when I can. Everything else about the pistol is good / great quality & craftsmanship & is why I find this roll pin odd. Or perhaps I'm not understanding its function.

These are good pistols but made to a price. If a roll pin fulfills the function of being...
- Hard metal
- Hollow
- Fits a drilled rather than reamed hole
- Probably never need to come out
then for production on a budget they are ideal.
Naturally they have a slit so they need to be entirely inside the sealed chamber.
The "Engineered" pin would need to be turned drilled hardened tempered and ground., and selected on tolerance. The hole would need to be drilled and reamed. Scrappage could be 30%.
Webley started to use them when Tempest replaced the all metal models.

Thanks for your reply. I was able to take a photo this morning, actually looks like two roll pins, large & small. Verry pleased with my purchase but just curious if this is the norm for this inlet or if it was a quick fix during assembly. I haven't posted a photo from Photobucket for awhile so hopefully one of the below links work. Photobucket link is now removed.

If your trying to attach the picture then we're having a bit of an issue on the total size of attachments on the board.

(If everyone can delete some of their old attachments that are no longer relevant it would be a great help)

A roll pin’s function is to secure a part in place. I can only assume Walther uses this method to lower manufacturing costs.

As long as the pistol is functional and not leaking, let it be.

If you’re still curious, ask the store where you purchased the pistol. Another member from the forum will probably chime in
and confirm whether his/her pistol has the roll pin in the cylinder valve.

Sometimes primary design function is re-purposed successfully.
Wire paper clips to open CD drive.
Cable ties for hand cuffs
Ball bearings in paint cans.
Roll pins for air pistol valve probes.
Why manufacture something that costs pennies ftom stock?

You tube is full of "hacks" some of which are actually useful.

Thanks for the replies! At first I thought perhaps it was a bad air inlet found during assembly and this was a quick fix. But then, why not just grab another unit from the bin instead?
Still interested in hearing from AP20 owners or even LP400 owners. Could this be an easy way to use the LP400 nipple on the lower cost AP's?
