6.5 Creedmoor vs. 6.5x47 Lapua

If you had to pick one, which one, and why?

I would recommend the 260 Remington. Which is a .308 Win necked down to take 6,5 mm bullets.

A toss up for sure, but I'd go with the 6.5x47 for the small primer and flash hole. And I already have everything including a reamer.

Starline makes 6.5 Creedmoor brass with a small pocket, but uses the standard flash hole. But it's also half the price of Lapua.

They all fill the same niche. I bet on the .260 Remington in 2004 because the others wheren't available then. I haven't found a good reason to switch so I haven't.

Changing speeds here:

6mm Creedmoor vs. 6x47 Lapua?

(Reason for this is I've got a Savage 12 LRP in .243Win - but Savage put a 9.25:1 twist on the barrel . . . so my preferance of 105-grain Hornady HPBT won't fully stabilize until I'm 10,000 feet above sea level . . . or drop to a 90-grain Lapua Scenar-L - at 50-cents a pop.)

That was my original consideration for 6.5Cr vs 6.5x47 - custom building an E.R. Shaw VIII.

Thoughts? Comments?

Depends on what you are shooting. 300 Metre or Long range, I thought the 6mm BR was popular now for 300Mtr.

The best analysis of this subject, IMO, is here:

http://demigodllc.com/articles/6.5-shoo ... creedmoor/

And, to your question on 6 Creed vs 6-6.5x47, the latter is still a wildcat, and thus you need to make your own brass (necking down the 6.5 x 47), whereas Hornady has 6 Creed brass commercially available. The exterior ballistic performance of the two is very close, IIRC.

Midway USA has 6.5x47 brass:

Can't seem to find commercially available 6x47, so that's a great point in favor of 6mm Creedmoor.

.264 LBC (Les Baer Custom) SP? removes the compound shoulder angle to a single angle in the shoulder. 6.5 CM ammo shoots from this chambering too so factory ammo is also available and after it's shot is fire formed for reloading.
