Steyr grip sizing

Post by swilso »

Hi. Just wondering peoples feedback on how they have found steyr grip sizes?
I have an opportunity to purchase a reasonably priced LP10E that has a XL grip.
My hand width measures 95cm and I have a large Morini grip on my 22 that fits nicely. I tried a mates Large grip on his LP2 steyr and it felt a bit smaller/thinner - my fingers wrapped more around the grip than on mine.
I just found that surprising as I believe the steyr grips are Morini as well? I unfortunately don’t have a XL to try and don’t want to commit to the cost of the LP10E without being a bit more confident in the grip size.
Thank you for anyone’s help. I’m a newb and working things out as I go.

Steyr grip size table, here for the LP10EVO, - think same for other Steyr match air pistols.

Your hand width of 95 mm puts you in the L or XL category; which one depends on the length of your finger(s).

Thanks ! That looks very helpful. Unfortunately I’m away from home at the moment with no ruler ! Might make a visit to a local shop tomorrow.
Just by glancing at the comparison of those measurements though the XL probably does look more like it may be for me.

My experience is that Steyr grips run a bit small. My Morini medium grip fits OK (but is about maxed out) while the Steyr medium grip is not quite long enough for my little finger. The palm rest extends enough, but the cut-out for finger grooves is short. I live with it. I also have a pair of medium Rink and Nills grips and those fit as expected (~ 92 mm palm width). But then, I'm a borderline M/L size and large Nills grips also fit. Not sure why Steyr medium is a bit small (and this is consistent for two air pistols) compared to others.

So to add a little confusion to grip size, going by the measurements on that chart my A is 95cm B is 85cm and my C is 10.5cm

I think with my C measurement is why my hand would wrap further around the large grip. I’m hoping that with a XL grip I may just need to pack the palm shelf. I’m having a think over it but considering making an offer on the pistol.

Going by 10M_Stan comment sounds like I could get by on a XL grip

I feel the Evo grips ARE one size smaller than the lp10 and lp1 grips before them

Hmm. Makes it hard without having an opportunity to hold one. I suppose it’s going to be a gamble really.
The large I used that felt small was on a 2017 LP2. Do you reckon the grips have changed between a 2012 LP10E and a LP2 ?

I can’t find any facts but I see on another thread a user commented that the LP10E grips are the same make as the EVO ones. Curious if that’s correct.

When you order the grip from pilkington talk to them. Maybe you can exchange it if it doesn’t fit?

Thanks, unfortunately I’m in Australia. Just updated profile.
I’m in rural Australia and the closest specialist ISSF shop or a shop that has steyr air pistols is probably 7hours drive away...

Check this out

http://www.airgunsplus.ca/shop/steyr-grips-sizing/

EVO Grip sizing Please click on the EVO to see sizing chart.

For the earlier grips. Finding the correct grip size Measure the width of the palm of your hand. Width Grip size 7.5 cm or less X-Small 8 cm Small 8.5 – 9.5 cm Medium 9.5 – 10 cm Large more than 10.5 cm X-Large

again i would contact the seller and ask for the sizing chart of the evo grips and grips prior to that.
