Shooting Jacket Stability Question

Post by B Lafferty »

I had a friend over the other night and after watching an old Lana Turner Film Noir movie, I put the ISSF YouTube channel on to show her air pistol and air rifle, standing. Her question was, how much additional stability does the ISSF shooting jacket provide in the standing position?

Not having an ISSF jacket, I could only guess. 10% added stability perhaps? Can anyone quantify this more precisely? Thanks in advance.

That might be difficult to quantify. At least for me, I change the stock set up considerably for use with a jacket. To such an extent, that I seldom shoot without the jacket. I am old and have the "yips". The jacket stabilizes me quite a lot. A younger person might not be as dependent on the jacket.

The real answer is a bit vague, BUT nobody wins without one.......

Depends on the cohort you're shooting against. ;-)
