Dry Firing mechanism not working

Post by sal6781 »

I just bought a Steyr Eco 10 compact. The dry firing mechanism won't work. Any recommendations ?

Take it back to where you bought it and ask them to fix it.

Mechanical version ?

Does it shoot normally ?

To dry fire, cock the pistol but do not lower the cocking lever all the way, the "T" on the side of the frame should be visible.

I had this problem as well. Remove the grip and check the cam (part no 15). It´s on the LH side above the sliver colored spring. A sliver pin should stick out of the cam. If not, it´s gone. A fix is easy. The hole has a 2mm diameter. A piece of the shaft of a metric 2mm drill can be used to fix it. It´s a 2minute job.

Loss of that silver pin would prevent the pistol from firing.

Yes, it would be permanently on dry fire!

The OP has solved the problem by following Silvershooter's advice which is in the user manual, a copy of which is also online.
