Pardini counterweight recoil reduction system

Post by crankythunder »

Hi guys!

Thinking about reducing the weight of my pardini sp bullseye, and rather then removing the recoil weights completely since I like the way that they reduce the recoil, I am thinking about replacing the steel weights with aluminum weights.

They measure 0.310 inch in diameter and I have some 0.312 aluminum stock that I could manufacture weights.

Cannot fathom any damage this would cause other then spring fatigue.

What do you guys think?

Regards,
Crankster

Would it be easier to remove two or four of the weights and springs? I doubt aluminum would have enough mass to noticeably affect recoil.

JUst a FYI. I played with mine forever putting the springs in front, mixing some in from and some in back. The factory way was what I ended up with.

With less mass of aluminum you will loose a little bit of the dampening effect. But let's be realistic, the recoil of a 22 is not going to keep you from cleaning the target, but an improperly balanced pistol might.

Crankster,

Instead of making aluminum weights, could blind holes be drilled into the steel weights already on hand?

If this doesn't work out to your satisfaction, does Pardini have new sets of the original weights available

for purchase?

As I understand it the whole point is that you can run 0, 2, 4, or 6 weights. Just pull some out.
