Hi, I've got a SuperMatch 1413 and I've read in this forum that the newer bolts have a faster lock time.
What, exactly, does it take to update the older wing bolts. Is it replacing the bolt? Is it removing the safety and changing firing pin? Rifle has the original heavy barrel and is capable of 15mm groups (at 50m, outside edge to outside edge).
I'm only shooting 60ft-75ft right now but am shooting in the 592-594/600 range on a good day so think perhaps it might prove a benefit. Plan to move to 50yd this winter.
thanks, Stefan

To update the bolt to 1913 spec you'd have to fit a complete 1913 (or 1813) bolt and trigger. None of the internal components are transferable between a 1400 and an 18/1900 rifle, nor are the triggers. The barrel/action would have to be sent off so the new bolt can be properly headspaced.
Although the current triggers are more sophisticated than pre-'77 triggers, replacing the bolt and trigger seems an expensive gamble.

Yes, too much work! I’ve just put on a 5071/1 trigger (a beauty!).

A 5071 trigger makes a difference. You only need to replace the catch, and it will cock a 1900 bolt, not the whole trigger. I believe post 1980 5071/2 triggers were actually 5018s with the different catch. The new bolt is still expensive mind.
1600 bolt would work, and would have a faster lock time than the 1413, but Anschutz no longer make 1600 parts I believe, so you'd be looking for used.
Tuner?

Barrel is shooting very well, so yes giving serious though to a Starik tuner. Then, of course more ammo selection!
