Do I have to keep my tuner on?

Post by lyoke »

I recently put a Harrell with a tube on my Anschutz 1913. The tube is approx. 12 inches long. This makes for quite a long rifle and I don't have a case to fit it. Am I able to set a mark on my barrel and place the tuner on it each time and remove it when I am finished? Or does the tuner need to remain on the rifle?

Thank you for any advice!

Every tube and tuner I've seen that was designed for Prone and 3-P shooting could be easily removed for cleaning or storage, and replaced with no loss of zero. There was either a second locating collar on the barrel, or a peg on the tube/barrel. The Harrell is a Bench Rest design so I'm not sure. How does the tube attach, and is it fixed to the tuner, or the barrel?

My tuner does not have a second collar but I could place a peg on my barrel. The tube is fixed to the tuner.
