I have all three 65,80 and 90. Also a FWB102. I like these crank pistols. Their quality,accuracy and workmanship is above reproach. Do I shoot them in matches. NO. They are great for training. But 60 times in a match is a bit too much. My fav is the 90. The 102 is a close second.

The only way you’ll win with one is you’re an experienced shooter (or pure luck) with the 65 and all the others with pcp’s are novices/newbies. Ah, the World and Olympic records set with a FWB 65/80/90 is in 580’s?, and the pcp’s are in the 590’s... I don’t see the “best” dethroning the pcp’s anytime soon.

However, I would feel a great amount of joy if I were able to win with an older model match air pistol. The look of awe and jaw-dropping of your competitors is priceless!

I used to enjoy using my $200 clunker to beat many try-hards with their $3000 PPC revolvers, but it didn't win me many actual medals, a top shot does need a top gun.
(Shooting IPSC with an as-issued Hi Power is also a lot of fun, as is letting people try the trigger afterwards - no the safety is not on, keep squeezing)

You know, if Don Nygord himself stepped out of the mists of time and shot next to me on the firing line with an older pistol, I wouldn't be dropping my jaw, I'd be watching. I'd be evaluating his technique and figuring out how to incorporate it with mine. And, hopefully, I'd get some time to talk with him.

I was using the figure of speech of “jaw-dropping” as a hyperbole.
