presuming you are asking about the outside bits...
1/ clean and lightly oil after every use - wipe off all excess oil - use a quality oil specifically for firearms externals.
2/ store in a closed container which includes a dehumidifier canister (from the supermarket) as used for wardrobes. Also include a block of camphor (natural or synthetic; it does not matter which) - the camphor gives of some fumes that definitely help prevent rust forming.
Including a dehumidifier canister and some camphor solved most of my problems with long-term storage of firearms - wish that I had known 30 years earlier.
