Canton Ohio, July NRA regional 2700

Post by Murph »

I was told that the July Canton Ohio regional is scheduled to be the Friday, Saturday, and Sunday leading up to the Camp Perry NRA nationals. Camp Perry events begin on Sunday and would then over lap if that happens. Is there any chatter that Canton may alter their event to a Thursday, Friday, and Saturday event so they don't conflict?

I will attend both, but a few of my friends said they won't make Canton if it overlaps with revolver day. I am hoping Canton changes to a Thursday - Saturday event.

Does anyone on here have ties to the Canton organizers and have some insight on this topic?

Ok fellow shooters....
I talked to Dennis today and have some information to pass along.
The NRA now has a final schedule of events for this year's NRA Pistol Nationals at camp Perry.

Sunday is a check in day.

Monday is prelim day as we have always done. The one exception is that both DR and HR will be on range 1 and offered every hour. You can infiltrate as you wish.
So, a master will be on relay 1 and shoot the prelim 900 and then can take a break and go down to range 1 and shoot HR/ DR at 10:00, 11:00, 13:00, 14:00, etc.

Tuesday - .22 day
Wednesday - CF day
Thursday - .45 day
Thursday night - Awards at the theater.

If you leave Canton Sunday after shooting it is only about a 2 hour drive to Camp Perry, so you should be able to check in Sunday evening.

If you are not a Master or High Master, you won't be on the first relay, so you can show up early Monday morning, check in and get your packet.

If you are on the first relay but can't get there in time, you can infiltrate another relay. The Range Officials are very accommodating, they want us to be able to shoot. Go to the CRO (blue shirt near the tower) when the next relay is called to the line, explain and ask if you can shoot this line. They will point you to one of the ends and tell you to take the next open spot.

I really hope the CMP/OHNG and NRA have extra hours for in-processing and packet pickup on Sunday night and Monday morning. They have created a ***bleep*** [bad situation] and should take the initiative to help shooters as much as possible.
