ANS 1907 & 1903 for shilouette

Can you use ANSHUTZ model 1907 & 1903 for shilouette shooting. Can you put scope on that rifles. thanks

The simple answer is neither can be used. The maximum weight of the rifle with sights for the Smallbore Silhouette Rifle (aka, Heavy Silhouette Rifle) is 10 lb, 2 oz. The advertised weight (without sights) of the 1903 is 10.1 lb. and the 1907 is 10.5 lb. Of the two, however, the 1903 has the best possibilities of being modified to make weight. It also comes closest to the dimensional requirements of the Smallbore Silhouette Rifle although I cannot say if it actually meets those requirements. As to the scope question, yes, both rifles have grooved receivers for the mounting of scopes.

Don't let the rule hold you back. Most local monthly matches will let you shoot with what you have while you decide if you like the sport. Then later you can get a silhouette rifle or modify yours to make weight.
If you shot at a club championship, state championship or the nationals people would care.
