My front sight broke off my Avanti 757 long ago and I'm just now getting around to replacing it. It arrived today, and I'm trying to figure out which way it is supposed to be oriented. Maybe it doesn't matter, but if it does, I want to get it right, if only so no one ever laughs a me for having it backwards (presumably in addition to laughing at me for having an Avanti).
Anyway, it has an end that screws off to permit insertion of, well, "inserts." Does the screw cap go towards the rear (AKA shooter), or towards the front (AKA target)? It seems like the insert is slightly closer to the end that does not have the screw cap, if that makes a difference.

All the ones I have seen face the shooter. With a perspex insert it means the bevel is the right way round on mine.
