I would like to know how many clicks are required to adjust the elevation of a .45 cal Colt Gold Cup pistol unmodified and sighted in at 25m, to 50m, shooting Black Hills 200 grain semi-wadcutter ammo, and using a 6 o'clock hold. I'm at the Canadian National Handgun Championships, and was asked to shoot on a team for the 2700 event (NRA rules). I was loaned the pistol and given the ammo. Now all I need is the information. Any information you can offer will be appreciated.

A couple of thoughts,
1. The average is probably around 4 clicks, but it depends on the powder type, fast or slow burning, and the amount.
2. A box stock Gold Cup is not a good 50 yard gun. You'd be lucky to keep them in the black at 50 yards from a Ransom rest. Find another gun if you can, one that is set up for Bullseye.

4 to 8 clicks is probably typical. Any box stock gun will have a hard time at 50 yards.
Basically, if you're sighted in well for fifty yards, you'll only be an inch or so off at 25. Since you're asking a pretty basic question, I'll make the rash & unwarrented assumption that 1" at 25 yards won't make a lot of difference. Do the Canucks really shoot NRA type bullseye at meters vs. yards?

Thanks for your input. Yes, the Canucks really do shoot at 25m and 50m, since our Nationals are ISSF oriented, the ranges were constructed for 25m and 50m target stands. I'll do my best at 50m with the Colt, although I don't expect to produce more than a mediocre perfomance.
