The U.S. International Muzzle-Loading Team is recruiting

Post by Mike M. »

Nursing that Olympic dream? Facing the fact that these nasty "job" and "work" things get in the way? Don't give up! You can still be a World Champion! The U.S. International Muzzle-Loading Team is looking for shooters for the 2017-2018 cycle. We've got openings available in rifle, pistol, and shotgun disciplines.

No prior black powder experience is required - our best pistol shooter had none when I talked him into giving it a try. His background was AP, FP, and NRA Bullseye. Three weeks ago, he set a new World Record in the 50 meter revolver match. It does take a willingness to learn - muzzle-loading arms can be a lot crankier than the modern guns - but there's no deep, dark secrets.

The up-side is that you get to compete at the international level. Travel to distant, exotic places; meet exciting, unusual people; and do your best to beat them in international sporting competition. The competition is tough...but not unbeatable.

Our tryout process is simple. Preliminary tryouts will be by mail, we're too scattered to do it otherwise. Final tryouts will be at the Can-Am match, currently scheduled for Barrie, Ontario, Canada in August 2017. The best shooters will be headed to Eisenstadt, Austria, in August 2018.

Information on the matches is available at http://mlaic.org/who-we-are/constitution-rules/

PM me if you're interested. We can help with both advice and loaner equipment. Thanks.
