IZH-46M Still in production?

Post by zanemoseley »

Are they still making the 46M? Its been out of stock at Pyramid for some time and Krale now has it OOS as well. I wonder if the import restrictions from Russia are making it not worth their while to import these?

Baikal store in Izhevsk still offers MP-46M to Russian customers for about $380.

Wow only £275, that only about $388 USD. What shop is that? I'm not sure if you can export from the UK like the Netherlands does. Krale in the Netherlands gets them too but they'll be about $500.

Besides the Izzy, the MP-657 is inexpensive and has excellent accuracy:

Yes, they used to cost £450 over here, until all those sanctions on Russia devalued their currency.

The bad news is that this particular model is only available in Russia. The price there is around $100 USD more or less.
I am not spoiled by the first tier air pistols that I have, and I enjoy shooting my Beeman P17 more often than not.

Sometimes, inexpensive well made pistols can give the brand names a run for its money.

Hello to All,

While we can buy the MP-46M in the UK for a very good price, we cannot, for love or money get any of the seals.

The enclosed seal pack that comes with the pistol does not contain the valve seal.

The importers cannot help either.

Attempts to buy seals from the USA have proved fruitless - one vendor wanted 55 USD to send three seal sets to the UK, and refused to send them standard mail in a Jiffy bag, even though I gave them a risk waiver. Even though I ultimately gave in to the 55USD shipping, they then said they didn't accept Visa Cards from 'foreign countries'.

Attempts to buy a well known 'valve replacement' from the USA failed also - 65 USD down the drain.

So when the valve seal goes on my pistol, I will either have to buy another pistol or get creative :)

I know that at least five (5) of my friends have not bought the MP-46M due to the lack of 'consumables'.

Have fun & a good Sunday,

Best regards

Have you tried York Guns? They have sold me seals and spares in the past. They don't have them on their website, but you could ring and ask if they still do them.

65 dollars seems quite reasonable for shipping a large marine mammal.

Wayne,

Many thanks :) York Guns have come through - they have the valve seal ('lock') :)

Oddly, 'Sportsman Gun Centre', who are now the 'official' importer, do not keep spares for the MP-46M !

Have fun :)

Best regards

I spoke with the chief airgunsmith for the main US importer a couple years ago. Even before US-Russian relations went south, they had trouble getting parts. They had to do a lot of repairs by cannibalizing warranty returns that were unfixable. Apparently a common issue was that the barrels were installed crooked.

A good enough agricultural implement for the serfs at the gulag.

Probably just a holdover from those twisty TOZ FPs.

You're welcome Russ. I also tried The Sportsman Gun Centre, and all they did was email IZH. I knew that wasn't going to work, because I'd already tried that. I eventually got a reply from IZH around 3 months later. They recommended a few gun shops across Europe, who ignored my emails. York Guns was the only place that I could find who sold spares. I found their service to be very good, and reasonably priced.

Wayne,

York Guns service was excellent - as was the price for the valve seal :)

I am now most heartened that one of my favourite pistols will continue to shoot well into the future.

Many thanks again :)

Have fun & a good weekend :)

Best regards
