Anschutz 6700 Rear Sight

Post by mrh1958 »

Is the Anschutz 6700 rear sight a decent starter sight for my 64 MPR Anschutz rifle? my understanding is that the windage adjustment does not have clicks but rather a friction type adjustment. Any other info on this sight appreciated.

It wouldn't be my first choice. Yes windage adjustment is made by opposed screws, which would be less user friendly than the standard detent/click stop adjustment. Further more, my understanding is that the 6700 was replaced by the 6702 in the early 1960s, so any examples will be at least 50 years old. Will the adjustment still be accurate?

If you want a cheaper alternative to a new rearsight there are usually a number of newer 6702 rearsights on eBay.
