Spotted this, couldn't resist
"I will have you know that I am not an old fart. I am a curmudgeon. A curmudgeon is an old fart with an extensive vocabulary and a really bad attitude."
Re: Spotted this, couldn't resist
Love it! Think I'll adopt it!

No arguments from here Rover ;-)Rover wrote:"I will have you know that I am not an old fart. I am a curmudgeon. A curmudgeon is an old fart with an extensive vocabulary and a really bad attitude."

OK, Rover, you ARE a curmudgeon; and here's Merriam Webster's preferred definition:Rover wrote:"I will have you know that I am not an old fart. I am a curmudgeon. A curmudgeon is an old fart with an extensive vocabulary and a really bad attitude."
a crusty, ill-tempered, and usually old man
How does a curmudgeon utilize his "extensive" vocabulary? "Get off my lawn!"
Re: Spotted this, couldn't resist
Like this, William:
As a brief reminder for those who forgot or that didn't know.
Here is what happened, quietly, on Jan.1, 2016
Medicare tax went from 1.45% to 2.35%
Top Income tax bracket went from 35% to 39.6%
Top Income payroll tax went from 37.4% to 52.2%
Capital Gains tax went from 15% to 28%
Dividend tax went from 15% to 39.6%
Estate tax went from 0% to 55%
A 3.5% Real Estate transaction tax was added.
Remember these facts:
These taxes were all passed solely with Democrat votes.
Not a single Republican voted for these new taxes
These taxes were all passed in the Affordable Care Act,
(aka Obamacare) - by line items.
If you think that it is important that everyone in the U.S.should know this
as there are many millions who don't, then pass it on.

Re: Spotted this, couldn't resist
Quite the list! Does it support your self-definition as a curmudgeon?
I'll bet you feel better having got it off your chest.

Once I was accused of being stuck in a rut. I replied, 'no baby, i'm in a groove'.

Wasatch Man, you're a hep cat!
Re: Spotted this, couldn't resist
Don't know where it came from... being an enginerd i usually walk around looking at my shoes ;-)
Re: Spotted this, couldn't resist
BTW William, since we're both getting old, I'm sure you're glad that your heirs will only be getting less than half of your estate. I guess it gives you a warm, fuzzy feeling to know our money will be supporting some fourth generation "baby mama".
Re: Spotted this, couldn't resist
Rover it's great being a curmudgeon---welcome aboard-----now you need to befriend a cat. It seems as if I remember an old poem about a curmudgeon and his cat. I liked it at the time....cannot remember even some of it.....oh well that goes with the Old Man territory......."Doc" (The Crusty Ol' Coach )

Only if he can back it up. Preferably with an M1 rifle. Aka, a Garand.william wrote:How does a curmudgeon utilize his "extensive" vocabulary? "Get off my lawn!"

My famiiarity extends to the M14, but I did train with an M1 (the Marines are cheap). I recall one unhappy camper, though.

Tax info shown above is not true.

I find that if I mentally preface Rover's posts with "Fwd:Fwd:FW:Fwd:Fwd:Fwd:FW:Fwd:Fwd:Fwd:", they suddenly make a lot more sense.PCU wrote:Tax info shown above is not true.
Re: Spotted this, couldn't resist
Careful, John, you're becoming a curmudgeon.
Re: Spotted this, couldn't resist
Hey, buddy, do you know something about my financial condition that I don't? According to ALL the reliable sources, an estate under $5.45 million owes NO tax at all. Still awaiting my March IRA statement, but I don't think I'm anywhere near that.Rover wrote:BTW William, since we're both getting old, I'm sure you're glad that your heirs will only be getting less than half of your estate. I'm more worried about Arizona stealing water from my relatives in Michigan after they manage to suck dry every drop from under the Great Plains.
Re: Spotted this, couldn't resist
Good, William; you too have successfully achieved curmudgeonhood!
