can't get cylinder bottle off my LP10

despite my best effort, with can opener rubber grip, I just can't get that darn cylinder off today. It just stock there.

any advice?

Shoot it until it's really empty? That would at least take any pressure off the threads.

Everything involved is aluminum, so heating or cooling it probably won't help.

Let someone who uses a SSP give it a try.

Empty the cylinder first by shooting it.
Clamp the pistol with your legs and use both hands to unscrew to cylinder.
Once you got it uncrewed do two things:
1- Put a little lube (vaseline) on the treads
2- Don't screw it in so hard!

If all the above doesn't work, follow Rover's advice...

Have you ever lubricated (hopefully not with silicone grease) the threads on your cylinders?

Just like the rest have said, lowering the pressure to empty should allow you to unscrew the cylinder. If that doesn’t work, the last option would be to try a penetrating oil.

I think RMCA got it right. That's what I do when my LP1 is on too tight. I don't think lowering the pressure will help, though. It's just that you can't get good leverage. Try your rubber pad with a slip joint pliers if you can't get it by hand. Also put it on the heater vent for a few minutes.

Seamaster I hope you have your cylinder removed by now and are shooting again. If you have not removed your barrell yet there are 2 videos on Youtube that are very helpful. One is titled "LP10 Adjusting The Front Sight" and the other titled "LP10 Adjusting the Barrell". You will have to scroll down to the bottom of the first page and click on LOAD MORE to get to those 2 videos. It appears that you do not have to remove the barrell shroud but if you do the Adjusting The Front Sight video shows NOT to push the shroud all the way against the pistol action but to leave a slight gap. Thankfully Steyr has some great videos. I added the 2 video links below Steyrs main page of videos. Good Luck, Rich

Same story for my old Walther CPM-1 (CO2-propelled). Takes quite some torque to unscrew the first turn, when pressure is low, (due to high number off shots from same cylinder). Have to keep count of shots to avoid this problem (and also change of impact caused by too low pressure).
"Stuckiness" of cylinder caused by the lower counterpressure from the gas/air acting upon the cylinder (pressure trying to force the cylinder off, that is), when cylinder is almost empty.

Everybody but you are non-knowledgeable? Right?

Apparently you have no knowledge of the Walther CPM-1 cylinders. These cylinders feature no wrench-flats.To your information: Some other old Walther CO2-pistols feature cylinders with wrench-flats (or "wrench-knobs"), but the CPM-1 does not.

An answer to you along the same line of mood as yours: (Whack? what or who?..... yourself?). :-)

Well, northpaw, you were right. Even though I once owned a CPM1, I was thinking of the CP series with the hex on the end of the cylinder (not a bad idea!).
