SCATT MX02 on Free Pistols

Post by PaulT »

Has anybody used a SCATT MX02 on a 50m pistol?

What did they find the best method of securing the optical sensor to the barrel?

I used electrical tape wound around the barrel near the breach to provide a diameter sufficient for the metal securing band provided with the SCATT unit to tighten, however, this is not ideal as it rotates a little during careful use and live firing.

Having said that, live fire and SCATT at 50m - the results were very interesting and helpful!

I would like to optimise securing the sensor before using this in a coaching environment.

On scatt web page there is a D6-19 clamp which should be suitable for free pistol:

I have no idea about it's availability. I don't remember seeing it before so it could be a new product.

A tightly folded piece of paper is sufficient to completely secure the sensor.

Thanks, I have one on order. However, I am also looking for any lighter weight options.

Apparently the D6-19 clamp is not available until 2016 at the earliest!!

I will need to find a "Plan B" in the interim.
