Is this a Anschutz 1913 or 1914 stock?

I just put this rifle on layaway for my first match rifle, it looks to be in really nice shape and a good price considering all the extras. One thing is that I can't decide exactly which stock it has on it, the 1913 or 1914. It looks more like the 1913 I think but the cheek rest looks a bit different than some pictures of the 1913 I've seen, the stippling also doesn't extend as far back into the thumbhole as the 1913 pictures I've looked at. The rest & rest mechanism on the 1914 is totally different but the stippling looks the same.

Any other observations would be great as well. One thing to note, the discoloration on the trigger guard is left over adhesive/sticker from a Camp Perry sticker I've been told, should clean off easy. Looks like a Freeland marking on the case so I assume it was bought through Champion Shooters.

It's neither -- it's a 1912 stock, originally marketed for Women's Sport Rifle. It has all the same adjustments as the final version of the 1913 stock but it's lighter. The 1914 stock uses the cheekpiece from the Precise aluminum stock.

I can't speak to the price, but you've got yourself a nice rifle -- stop surfing the net and go shooting already!

Well they have it on hold until I mail them a check which I planned to do tomorrow. Is this 1907 in 1912 going to be adequate weight for me? I'm 6'0" and about 200lb. Can I assume it is as heavy or heavier than a standard 1907? I can decline purchasing it still at this point.

It's personal preference really, you don't know if it's heavy enough or not until you try it! Such an unhelfpul answer, having said that I would be a bit concerned that it wouldn't be heavy enough. I'm 6"2 and 220 pounds and I wouldn't consider using anything lighter than my 1913. But you may have success with the 1907, plenty have!

Agreed -- it's always easier to add weight to a rifle than remove it.

Ok I called the owner of the gun shop and explained the stock issue to him and he agreed to weigh it for me. It came in at 10 3/4 as best as he could measure it. He also informed me it did indeed come from a female shooter. I will be shooting scoped so that should push it up to at least 12 lbs. Compared to other weights listed by Champions Choice.

1903 - 10.1 $1100
1907 with 4759 butt plate (exclusive to CC) - 10.5 $2200
1907 with 2213-8700 hook - 10.5 $2350
1913 - 12.4 $3035

So am I basically getting some 1913 features such as the hook butt and thumbhole stock while retaining more of the weight from a 1907 barreled action and slightly lighter stock? What do you guys think of the package in my original link for $1800? I'd like to make sure its a safe investment should I decide to upgrade in the future. I guess my worry is the retail might suffer if its viewed as a woman's gun even though its kind of just a hybrid of the 1907 and 1913.

Another thing to think about is if I'd even be willing to pay the price for a used 1913. It would be great to stay under $2000, I'm worried a nicer/newer used 1913 would bring $2500+. I'm trying to avoid being the joker rolling up with a top of the line gun and can't shoot. My best score with my CZ 452 is an 1068/1200.

Sorry to ramble, just kind of thinking out loud. I told him I'd try to give him an answer by tomorrow. Any more input would be awesome.

I would still buy it. There aren't really "men's" or "women's" guns in this sport, other than who happens to be holding it. In the future, this gun will actually be easier to sell than a full-on 1913, because your market could include Juniors and people who shoot 3P.

To put this in perspective, I am 6'1", shoot only prone, and I shoot a 1907 in a Precise stock. The only reason I don't shoot a 1907 in a 1914 stock is because a friend gave me a killer deal on the Precise when he changed his out for a different color.

that is a awesome price, especially for a left hander. lots of extras and it looks in good shape.

No problem adding weights to the rail, I would go ahead and pull the trigger if I were a lefty.

The issue that will most likely plague you will be the length of the stock, which is easily remedied by purchasing and installing longer threaded adjustment pieces on the butt-plate. The difference in weight is generally a heavier barrel, and you will find if, shooting conventional prone, that at the end of the day the weight of what you have will be fine. This is a nice rifle.
